Description

Canabalt HD is an endless runner game This game was created by Adam Saltsman. for the Experimental Gameplay Project in 2000. It was offered by Kittehface Software.

Saltsman said that he used to have fantasized at his old office job of running down our long, long hallway just for fun to escape. The character in the game wears a black suit. He had forgotten about that until months after Canabalt HD came out. There used to be an intro cinematic that I was designing, where the character receives an email, but it was all getting in the way of the main thing.

The objective of the game is to achieve the highest score, measured in meters per run. Some versions of the game have online leaderboards, allowing players to compete for ranking.

The simple and fast-paced platform action game that pioneered a genre arrives on Android devices, remastered with new 3D backgrounds and smooth animation. Select between classic 2D artwork or new 3D artwork, track your performance on online high scoreboards, and more. Select between multiple game modes or play two players on the same screen.

Editor’s review and how to play

Unlike most platforms with predesigned stages which can be played to completion, the landscape of Canabalt is procedurally generated and endless.

Escape the destruction of your city with just one button! The game that popularized the infinite runner genre is back with a two-player mode, new challenges, new music, new achievements, and new leaderboards! The game controls are simple and smooth, and the graphics and sounds will make the game addictive.

The player controls an unnamed man fleeing from an unknown threat. As the game begins, the player character jumps from the window of an office building onto the roof of a neighboring building. He then proceeds to run forward automatically, continually accelerating as he moves. The only control the player has over the character is through a single button, which makes him jump; either from building to building or over obstacles. Missing a jump to another building will cause him to fall to his death while colliding with a crate or an office chair will reduce his speed. Bombs are also occasionally dropped into the player’s path, causing death if not avoided. The objective of the game is to achieve the highest score, measured in meters per run. Some versions of the game have online leaderboards, allowing players to compete for ranking.
